Julie has never met a project she didn’t try to conquer—often with boundless optimism, improvised tools, and a healthy disregard for instruction manuals. But nothing—not even raising twins while balancing on a second-story ladder in 110-degree heat—has tested her endurance quite like writing the Darke Forest Series.

A longtime elementary teacher, Julie discovered her passion for storytelling while rewarding her students with wildly embellished tales from her childhood. To her surprise, they kept begging for more (possibly to delay math). Now, when she's not wrangling plot holes or rogue commas, she can be found adventuring through life with her husband and their eight children—who provide plenty of material whether they mean to or not.
