Mohammad Heydari

Mohammad Heydari (Persian/Farsi: محمد حیدری; born 14 August 1992, Tehran, Iran) is a scientist and author specializing in Management Science and Engineering (MS&E). He earned his PhD and Doctor of Science (DSc) in MS&E from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, completing a dissertation titled “Cognitive Basis, Perceived Corruption, and Attitudes Towards Entrepreneurial Intention” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Zhou Xiaohu. He also holds an MBA and a BBA from Payame Noor University.

Dr. Heydari has developed a substantial and internationally recognized body of scholarly work across peer reviewed journals, books, book chapters, conference proceedings, and policy submissions. His publications are used in formal academic teaching, including a 4 ECTS master level course on Security of Logistic Processes in the European Union, and a 3 credit course on Healthcare Supply Chain Risk Management offered by the Department of Supply Chain & Information Systems in collaboration with Arizona State University, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Center for Applied Research and Innovation in Supply Chain–Africa (CARISCA). His books and research outputs are cataloged in major international libraries such as the U.S. Library of Congress and the British Library, and his work is indexed in the American Psychological Association’s PsycInfo database. His Google Scholar profile reflects a strong citation record and significant global engagement with his research.

His contributions to MS&E have earned him national and international recognition. He has been appointed a National Foreign Young Expert and Associate Professor under the Foreign Youth Talent Program (Grant No. QN20240101), serving as Principal Investigator on a national research project. He holds a tenured academic position at the School of Applied Business, Unitec Institute of Technology in Auckland, New Zealand. Prior to this, he served as a research fellow at Tongji University in Shanghai and as an Associate Professor at Southwest University in China, contributing to multiple national and provincial research initiatives at Jiangsu University.

Dr. Heydari serves on the editorial boards of Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio), and the Journal of Health Organization and Management. He also contributes as an Associate Editor for Informatics for Health and Social Care and previously served as an Academic Editor for PLOS ONE. His editorial appointments reflect his commitment to advancing scholarship, strengthening peer review standards, and supporting the global research community.

His research has appeared in leading international journals and publishing outlets, including the Annals of Operations Research, Developmental Studies, Applied Energy, Operational Research, Journal of Cleaner Production, and Routledge/CRC Press. His work has been supported by major funding bodies, including the Graham Munro Charitable Foundation, Wilfrid Laurier University, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), National High-End Foreign Expert Grants, and the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities of China.

Dr. Heydari’s research has also achieved global policy impact. His work on public health risk evaluation has been recognized by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and is featured on the WHO website. These contributions underpin his policy facing research, including submissions to the UK Parliament on healthcare system reform, elective care optimization, public transport planning, and public sector fraud prevention.

Dr. Heydari’s research program spans applied mathematics, blockchain algorithms, health services research, health economics, optimization and operations research, supply chain management, logistics, decision science, human resources, organizational behavior, leadership, industrial and organizational psychology, and entrepreneurship. He employs conceptual, qualitative, and quantitative methodologies to address systemic inequities, advance measurement frameworks, and support evidence based decision making. His ongoing commitment to self directed learning through leading global universities has further enriched his scholarly perspective.

His research interests and contributions can be grouped into three interconnected areas:

• Quantitative and optimisation driven operations management, with applications in healthcare systems, emergency and disaster management, and maritime–aviation logistics. His work employs linear, non linear, and stochastic models to support operational risk evaluation and decision optimisation.

• Sustainable and resilient supply chain management, with a focus on healthcare, industrial, and humanitarian contexts. He integrates systems science, analytics, and mathematical modelling to enhance efficiency, adaptability, and long term sustainability across complex supply networks.

• Decision and behavioural science in management systems, advancing theory and practice through optimisation algorithms, data driven modelling, and cross sectoral analysis of stakeholder behaviour in healthcare and organisational operations.

Dr. Heydari has received several prestigious awards for his research achievements, including the Chinese High-End Talent Green Card under the Thousand Talents Program (千人计划), a major postdoctoral fellowship at Tongji University, the Chinese Outstanding International Student Scholarship from the China Scholarship Council (CSC), and the Nanjing Municipal Government Scholarship for Doctoral Students.
