Jack Hafferkamp

Born in Chicago at the close of World War Two, Jack Hafferkamp has passed through a series of careers, from student to free-lance record reviewer for Rolling Stone, Arts Reporter for the Chicago Daily News, Journalism lecturer at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, travel writer, editor and publisher of "Libido: The Journal of Sex and Sensibility," Foreign Teacher in Mainland China, and lately, ELL (English Language Lerner) teacher. He lives in Chicago. He's tired of winter. He wrote his latest book, "Death in Central America: An Ecotourism Nightmare," to underscore two key timeless points: Know Before You Go; and Look Both Ways before you cross the street. The main difference between 1993, when the story takes place, and now, is that these days you should probably also be adding really big dark glasses and a hoodie or two to you essential travel kit. The better for avoiding facial recognition software everywhere.
