Arthur Chappell

I am a Preston based Manchester, England born author of science fiction, poetry, erotica, horror, non-fiction, and much more. Educated to degree level in the Humanities, I am an ex-member of an extremist religious cult, who helps warn people of the dangers such organizations present. I have been involved with historic re-enactment societies, and I am an award winning performance poet, dramatist and radio presenter. My first radio podcast play, as author, director and actor, Wendigo Water, was broadcast 2015. I write on a number of websites, and blogs and often get to talk on my life experiences in the media. I present talks on subjects ranging from pub sign histories, to cults, burlesque and the definition/nature of comedy.

My first Pub Signs book, Watch The Signs! Watch The Signs! (Shoreline Of Infinity Press) came out in 2019. My second, called 'Pub Signs'(Amberley Press) came out in 2024. In between them, at the height of Covid, I went down with bowel cancer, from which I recovered, though wearing a stoma bag for life.
