Valentin R. Troll

Valentin R. Troll holds the Chair of Petrology and Geochemistry at Uppsala University and is internationally recognised for his research on ocean island volcanism. With over 180 scientific publications and several books - including The Geology of the Canary Islands - he brings clarity and insight to volcanic processes. Troll is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical and Geological Societies, a Corresponding Member of the Royal Academy of Sciences of the Canary Islands and the recipient of the Björkén Prize for outstanding scientific research. He actively bridges scientific research and public engagement and has provided expert advice during recent volcanic events, including the 2021 La Palma eruption.
