John B MacDonald

John B. MacDonald is a conservationist, writer and entrepreneur. His main interest is the long term collection and preservation of DNA from plant and animal species facing imminent extinction. He received his JD from the University of San Diego and is actively involved in the development of sustainably run businesses. He lives in Minnesota.

MacDonald along with co-author Lee Frelich (Director of the University of Minnesota Center for Forest Ecology) wrote the science fiction novel PROJECT ARK (http://www.projectarkbook.com). They wrote the novel as a cautionary tale because of their concern that the loss of biodiversity along with the decreased resilience of the Earth's ecosystems to major disturbances such as climate change, are reducing the planet's ability to sustain human life.

PROJECT ARK, which is also being developed into a film by a top Hollywood producer, is a high-action adventure story based on hard science possibilities of a worst-case environmental catastrophe and hard science principles used to try to restore the planet back to health.

The book's foreword is written by Paul Douglas (http://www.pauldouglasweather.com), author of the book CARING FOR CREATION and a respected meteorologist with 35 years of TV and radio experience and an expert on climate trends who appears regularly on national media outlets.
