Shortly before my graduation, my literature teacher begrudgingly gave me a passing grade, then told me I could have a great future in writing. Naturally, this spurred me to get a degree in physics – but not before publishing my first novel, the magic realist Seven-Point Star. After a couple of years working in photovoltaics research and development, and spurred by the success of my debut work, I decided to get serious about my writing career.
