In my fourteen years of teaching, one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had is helping my online students sharpen their writing skills and write really great sentences, paragraphs, and essays. I’ve seen a lot of talent and promise in the next generation of writers! I started my writing career as a reporter for two newspapers before becoming a teacher and have written both for online and traditional publications since. The first ten years of my teaching career, I worked with special needs students to develop their reading, writing, and math skills. In 2009, I received the Special Educator Merit Award from Professional Alabama Educators which recognized my efforts as “an outstanding special education teacher.” Since that time, I have worked with Time4Writing and with special populations in the public school system. I am certified in Alabama for all core subject areas including English, math, social studies, and science. I received my bachelor’s degree in journalism and history from the University of Memphis and my Master of Education degree from the University of Texas in 2012. I am the dad of three, a husband, and the chief petter and feeder of a golden retriever. We live in Alabama.
