Katie Grimsley is originally from Oklahoma, but life as a military brat left her growing up all over the world. Having seen enough of the world for a lifetime by the time she was 14, she wanted to settle down and stay in one place for the rest of her life. Her wish was granted and she is now living her best life in Texas with her husband and their house full of Boxer fur-babies. Her children are grown and she is loving being a grandmother.
Most of Katie's career was spent in the social work field, advocating for children. She decided to write her story when she realized that other children might benefit if they realized abuse was not normal. With the support of Emma, along with some bickering about one another's differing memories, "The Redheaded Stepchild: My Struggle to Survive" was born. Katie published ‘Losing Joy: Based on a True Story’ in October 2020. This was a labor of love as it is based on the unsolved disappearance of her great-aunt nearly 50 years ago. Her hope is that someone will come forward with new evidence that will ultimately solve the cold case.
True to her rebellious spirit, Katie went on to prove her stepfather wrong. He always said she would never amount to anything. To date, she holds a B.S. in Legal Studies and a M.A. in Criminal Justice with a magna cum laude distinction. She is also a licensed real estate sales agent in Texas, enjoying a successful career in sales. Katie is successful, happy, loved, and thriving.
