Susane Lavallais Boykins

Susane was born and reared near Red River in Marksville, Louisiana. Playing along the banks and levees of the river allowed her imagination to soar. Susane’s writing exhibits her love for her childhood home as well as the turmoil and dissension that were a part of life in the 1960s South. Her first novel, Waters of the River Red - The Novel and her short story Beads of Dreams, reveal some of the conflicts of that time. As well as, some of the rewards of experiencing life back then.

She earned a B. S. degree in Accounting and Teacher Certification in Business Courses from Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Working in the telecommunications industry, selling real estate, teaching high school and owning small businesses has created a wealth of experiences to draw from.

Besides, her first novel, Waters of the River Red - The Novel, she's also written the second book in the series entitled Loving Josephine. Utilizing her interests and love of genealogy, she writes a blog about the people and events she's discovered and tips for other self-trained genealogist like herself on the website, The Courage of my Ancestors.com.

She's currently working on her third novel and genealogical book containing her blog posts.

The mother of three children and five grandchildren, she is an avid genealogist. She lives with her fur baby, a poodle named Gail, in Texas.
