John L. Carr

John L. Carr (1957–) was born in Nebraska, grew up in Houston, Texas, and moved to Louisiana in 1996. Receiving his PhD in zoology from Southern Illinois University, he went on to a 5-year career in Washington, DC, working for Conservation International, then an academic career at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. He has conducted research, primarily on turtles, with colleagues in Latin America for over 35 years. In Louisiana, he has worked with 20+ graduate students on projects involving amphibians and reptiles. He was a coauthor of the 2007 book “Las Tortugas y los Cocodrilianos de los Países Andinos del Trópico,“and now the “Amphibians and Reptiles of Louisiana” with Jeff Boundy.
