Stephen Sanford is the author of The Problems of Morgan series. He began writing, after being severely wounded in the United States Army. He was serving as an Infantryman in the 172 SBCT and was shot numerous times during a raid on an insurgent safe house in Mosul Iraq in November of 2005. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, the nation’s second highest award for valor. He medically retired from the U.S. Army just under a year later. Despite the best advice of the doctors, who said he would not walk again, or have children…well don’t take birth control advice from a vascular surgeon.
Steve and his wife (who is not an android and is better than most sports drinks) have two “accidental” children. The family has a dog who believes that the family exists to serve her. The family, and their entitled dog, live in Michigan. Steve volunteers for a local police department as a Reserve Officer. He teaches the occasional firearms course, being a gunfighter… He enjoys fishing with the kids, or rather, untangling fishing lines from local trees… Michigan law is currently somewhat vague on the legality of using children for bait, so mostly Steve fishes along side the kids, not actually with them. (It was important to clear that up.)
Steve enjoys sarcasm, bad puns, and has convinced his children that he actually went to dad school. The answer to any “why” question is, “Because they told us that in Dad School…” When the kids asked, “What happened to your leg dad?” He answered, “I was bitten by a venomous duck.” Leading to the child in question being afraid of ducks for nearly two years.
His most recent book is "The Problem of Morgan: The Song of Karaticna." With a sequels to follow.
