Aiko Ikegami was born in Tokyo Japan. She loves drawing, painting, and making stories. As her young age she has learned oil painting from Kimie Tanaka (1908-1987), a famous oil painter in Japan. Now she is in love with watercolor. After she received her Associate Degree in child education, she left Japan and came to the United States where she received a Ph.D in Pharmacology at the University of Texas. After years of working as a neuropharmacologist, she decided to pursue her dream of making picture books. Her debut picture book Friends was published in April 2016 by Albert Whitman. She is enjoying her life with her dog and a cat.
