Donna J. Burr

Donna J. Burr was born in Louisiana and raised in upstate New York and the Lake Ontario – St. Lawrence River region.

At the age of 30, she began a highly-accelerated college program, which culminated in earning a Bachelor of Science in Art Education with Honors. She immediately forged on to receive a Master of Liberal Studies, with an emphasis on Literature and Philosophy, from the same College of St. Rose, Albany, New York.

While working on Master’s Studies, Donna’s teaching career began at the Glenmont Job Corps Center, located near Albany, New York. She endeavored to ignite creativity in some of the young adults enrolled there; a challenging and enlightening experience. After Job Corps she taught art in public schools, in and around Albany, New York, and later in Binghamton, New York.

Donna’s days are often filled with writing fiction, poetry and memoirs, as well as with watercolor painting and photography. Inspired by visits to Claude Monet’s home and gardens in Giverny, France, she can frequently be found “playing in the dirt” (as husband, Fred says), communing with nature in her own secret gardens.

Donna and her husband live in the beautiful rollings hills of Kentucky, near Louisville, and have four children and eight grandchildren.
