Morgan Young—a former aerospace engineer and attorney—has left NASA's Mission Control Center and the practice of law behind.

Now she's on a mission to free children from the tyranny of rote learning about science, history, and classical literature.

Her "Logical Lana" STEM fiction series looks at astronomy, trailblazers in science, and Greek mythology through the eyes of a smart 13-year-old African American girl. Don't expect Lana to be a role model tho! She's a handful!

Her "Revisited" series takes a fresh look at classic children's stories with thoroughly modern underpinnings.

First up is George MacDonald's "The Light Princess" (Revisited). Originally published in 1864, it features a nameless princess who was light as air and refused to allow a prince to rescue her.

Morgan considers her to be the FIRST brave princess. So she updated this classic to clean up some archaic language and named the princess "Skye."
