Bess Goden is an illustrator, graphic designer, writer, crafter, activist and professional crackpot. Along with creating whimsical coloring books, she also designs steampunk coloring posters, downloadables, tshirts, bags and handmade lace jewelry/accessories which she sells through her budding shop/blog Steampunk Parliament. When she is not hocking her own wares like a fishwife, she freelances as a graphic designer, photo retoucher and copywriter/editor.
Bess, (a.k.a. Steampunk Bessie), started her creative career with a B.A. in Theatre from Wagner College where she studied both performance and design. However, parental mortality and financial hardship caused her to give up her fanciful dreams of creating the first 'All Fat Girl Chorus Line' and turn toward the more serious business of attaining an M.S. in Library and Information Science from Pratt Institute. There she became interested in design and literature for children, and worked for the New York Public Library, the children's literary review publication, School Library Journal, and as an Editorial Intern at Arthur A. Levine Books, Scholastic.
Since then she has returned to New Jersey, the land of her birth, where she has done freelance graphic/web design and editing work for various clients including, Girls Explore, (an educational doll company), and Crochet Insider, (an online publication discussing the history of crochet and fiber arts).
Bess Goden insists that she has only just begun to astound. Stay tuned, ladies, gents and non-binaries. You won't be disappointed with the wonders she has in store.
