Torbjorn H. Netland

Prof. Dr. Torbjørn H. Netland is the Head of Chair of Production and Operations Management (POM) at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. Before taking the position at ETH, he was an Associate Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and a Senior Researcher at SINTEF in Trondheim, Norway. He has been a Visiting Researcher at the Centre for International Manufacturing, University of Cambridge, UK, and a Fulbright Visiting Research Fellow at McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University, Washington D.C., USA.

His award-winning research on achieving and sustaining manufacturing excellence appears in leading scientific journals such as Management Science, MIT Sloan Management Review, Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, and International Journal of Operations & Production Management. Torbjorn is the recipient of two Shingo Research Awards and numerous teaching awards. He is the co-author of the 800-page textbook “Introduction to Manufacturing: An Industrial Engineering and Management Perspective” (Routledge, 2022).
