Kate Finney grew up in a small town in central Indiana, influenced by short story writers such as Susan Neville, Michael Martone, Joyce Carol Oates, and Kate Chopin. After studying literature at Butler University, she began a job as a technical writer in Indianapolis. As her career evolved in the field of information technology, she held a variety of positions from training specialist to project manager, but no matter what she was doing in her work, her free time kept circling back to two great loves - writing and children. Finally, she took the hint and set everything else aside. Today, her work is all about what she loves, writing for children and the people who educate them.
Through her local church, Kate began sharing worship stories with kids on Sunday mornings. Beginning with her book, Worship With Kids!, she was given the opportunity to share some of those stories with a wider audience. She has recently published a sequel, More Worship With Kids! The idea behind the books is to make worship story preparation simple, so children’s ministers and volunteers can put all of their energy into the actual adventure of leading kid’s worship.
Worship With Kids! is more than just a book. Kate shares worship ideas and suggestions on her website https://www.worshipwithkids.com. Her next project is a children's ministry activity book due out this summer.
Kate makes her home in Northern Indiana in a town called Plymouth, along the Yellow River. When she is not writing, she is busy being a mom, Sunday school teacher, advocate for women’s education and gardening.
