My name is Tim Brannan, I write Role-playing Game books.
Mostly horror, but I dabble in everything. I pretty much like any system I pick up.
So the truth is I am still a big geek. Yeah in High School (especially one in the Midwest in the 80s) this was a liability, but today it is practically a status symbol! Or at least that is what I tell myself…
I have been playing Role-Playing Games for ever it seems, but now I also write them. My official writing career began in the mid-90s when I helped author number of "netbooks" that were pretty successful at the time.
I tend to work on horror games, mostly ones with some level of magic in them. Some of the games I have worked on in the past are “WitchCraft”, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, “Liber Mysterium: The Book of Witches and Warlocks”, a bunch of other D20 system (D&D) books, and have contributed to other systems. Though my pride and joy is “Ghosts of Albion RPG”, based the animations and novels by Christopher Golden and Amber Benson. It’s Victorian Horror and just a really fun world. Working with these two established and famous authors was a great experience.
My more recent books have been with smaller publishers that give me more freedom to work and are part of what is known as the “Old School Renaissance”, a small collection of publishers and authors that write new rules for games that were popular in the early and mid 80s. Among these are “The Witch” and “Eldritch Witchery” along with smaller publications detailing Vampires, Werewolves, and Leprechauns. Recently I also dipped into Science Fiction games with “Sisters of the Aquarian Order”.
My next books are an update on my Liber Mysterium called “Strange Brew: The Book of Witches and Warlocks” and “Darwin’s Guide to Creatures” a “bestiary” on fantastical creatures from the Victorian era.
