Marco Del Pasqua

Born in Rapolano Terme (Siena) in 1960, more precisely from Poggio S. Cecilia, I live in Cavriglia (Arezzo). I have a diploma in accounting and pursued university studies at the Faculty of Political Science in Florence. My family is an ancient Rapolanese family, with documented presence in Poggio Santa Cecilia dating back to 1526. Although I haven't lived there for many years, I have always remained very attached to my hometown and often return gladly because the atmosphere of the place is truly unique.

My youthful passion for foreign languages led me to attend university improvement courses in Germany and Ireland, before the advent of Erasmus.

I therefore speak German, Spanish, and English, and also a bit of French.

I have been writing for passion for almost thirty-five years, but I don't consider myself a writer because the word "writer" suggests that one is a professional writer and enjoys a certain fame among readers. I rather define myself as a "hobby novelist," but before being a writer, I am mainly a reader.

In 1982, I won a merit plaque for a short story at the national literary prize "Casentino." In 2006, my debut novel was published: "Inspiegabili Illusioni," followed by other novels: Il riflusso, Sotto le stelle di Cuba, Ana Paula e gli spiriti, Il fiorino nero di Dante, l’anello scomparso, Intrigo sull’Elba, Lincoln e lo zuavo del Papa, il nipote segreto di Maria Antonietta, The Insurgency and I cavalieri e la mezzaluna. Some of my novels have been translated into several languages.

Often, I receive messages from readers asking about the characters in my books. It makes me very happy, but I have to disappoint them because everything I have written is purely a product of imagination.

I want the reader to reflect with their own mind on the scenes and characters, and I always strive to write in a way that makes reading a pleasure, conveying emotions and sensations while also stimulating the mind. I believe that a writer should not write according to predetermined schemes but should always be unique and original in their genre.
