J.L. Pete is a Los Angeles-based author, self-publisher, and numbers girl by day who moonlights as a ghost wrangler for her own emotions. She writes fiction and poetry with bite, heart, and a tendency to lean into the weird.

Her debut novel, Call It Magic, was born from a dream that wouldn’t let go and turned into a career she built herself—one late-night draft, one typo, and one reluctant Amazon upload at a time. Death Drives a Minivan followed—a darkly hilarious nod to mortality and magic in the mundane.

Then came The Other Side of Noth;ng, a haunting story about survival, connection, and the unexpected relationships that bring us back from the edge. Including the ghosts that won’t stay dead (emotional or otherwise).

Her latest release, Waiting for Gravity due out in May, is a poetry collection—equal parts truth and character, grief and grace. It’s a book about falling apart, writing through it, and hoping something soft still waits on the other side.—blending personal truth with literary ghost work.
