My name is McKenna Ruebush, and I am the author of Enter a Glossy Web.
I live in rural Idaho where I divide my time between tending to my feline minions, and pursuing my purpose in life – writing.
My childhood was punctuated by frequent and dramatic changes in scenery and culture as the daughter of a missionary father. My mother, a fountain of literary creativity, related to me through her stories and writing. She encouraged me from a young age to embrace my own cast of characters and to begin transcribing their lives on paper. As a result of these two influences I began writing at the age of twelve in the back seat of a moving vehicle, inspired by rain forests and fields of sunflowers, remote village markets and northern lights.
I still travel whenever I can — it’s in my blood now and always will be – and my most treasured books have always traveled with me. My copies of The Fellowship of the Ring, The Princess Bride, and A Spell For Chameleon have been across continents and oceans, to fourteen different countries and counting.
My heroes have always been authors. J. R. R. Tolkien once got me through a very lonely three months in Switzerland. Even now, anytime I feel anxious, I can pick up my tattered copy of The Hobbit, close my eyes, exhale slowly, and know that no matter what, there will always be a hole in the ground where lived a hobbit.
