Juan F Carrillo

Juan F. Carrillo, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at Arizona State University's Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. His creative and interdisciplinary scholarship and projects draw from his background as a working-class student in Los Angeles area public schools, teaching at the high school level in low SES communities, and multiple sites of contestation and possibility. Dr. Carrillo has been recognized for his teaching as the winner of the UNC Chiron Teaching Award and for his research as a Spencer Dissertation and Postdoctoral Fellow. In 2020, he was awarded the American Educational Research Association's Division G Early Career award for his exemplary contributions related to the social context of education. His work has been published in academic journals such as the Harvard Educational Review, Equity and Excellence in Education, and the Berkeley Review of Education.
