Mike Turvil

As a happily retired person, I now have the time to do things I couldn’t fit in while I was working and one of these is to write books. I have always enjoyed reading and particularly like stories in which the author takes readers away from their everyday lives and into a world of the writer's imagination, where almost anything can happen and invariably does. Books with a twist and a liberal dose of humour give me the most enjoyment, so it is not surprising that my own stories are written to amuse, but also have a tendency to be a bit unpredictable.

‘Why Eddie’, ‘The Strange Old Bag Lady’ and my two ‘Fido’ books all fall into this category and will challenge the reader to work out where the story is going. ‘Four Old Geezers Visit Cromer’, ‘Adventures in a Bond’ and ‘Tim’s Anglia’ are all drawn from my own personal experiences, but with a considerable amount of poetic license.

I have also written two stories for younger readers: ‘Wilbur’s Quest’ and ‘The Shed at the Bottom of the Garden’, as I wanted to see if I could capture the imagination of children, whilst providing them with interesting information at the same time.

I do enjoy writing, for my own amusement as much as anything else, and like to think that others may find my books entertaining. They are not literature, in the true sense of the word, but will probably make you chuckle.
