Lisa Van Drese

Lisa lives in Gladstone, Michigan with her husband Doug. They have two children, Andréa and Maxwell. Lisa is the author of the articles, "My Son Maxwell" and "The Things I Have Learned" and is wrapping up her informational guide, "Down syndrome: One Mother's Truth". She is a national advocate for all people with Down syndrome and stands firm in the belief that every life has value. Lisa is a strong supporter of Christian Life Resources and shares in their effort to decrease the number of abortions based solely on a diagnosis of Down syndrome.

"Maxwell Goes to the Zoo" is a tribute to her son Maxwell and every other overachiever who happens to rock an extra chromosome. Lisa wrote this book as a gift to her son and published it as a tool for parents and educators to open a discussion about Down syndrome with children at their level. This book is unique in that it focuses on people with D.S. being just like any of their typically developing peers rather than focusing on differences.
