David Fielding

David Fielding grew up in Southern California, studied engineering at Stanford University and served for two years as a community development volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps in Cuzco, Peru ('64-'66). He later attended Georgetown University Law School and worked as a legal aid attorney with the California Rural Legal Assistance program in El Centro, California. In the 1970’S, he lived in Costa Rica and worked as an advisor to the student legal aid program of the University of Costa Rica Law School. Returning to San Francisco, he began a 40 year career as a civil rights and labor law attorney with his own firm of Bushnell, Caplan & Fielding. Now retired as an attorney, he is pursuing a career as an author, blogger and limner of travel adventures. He is a birdwatcher and student of the Italian language. The book “SALENTO BY 5” is the result of a travel adventure that brought David and his wife Audrey to the heel of Italy’s boot where they became friends with the book's co-authors—three Italians from Salento. David Fielding’s contributions to the book include his sketches, water color drawings and original journal entries.
