Richard J. Haier

Richard Haier is Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Irvine. His PhD in Psychology is from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Haier pioneered the use of neuroimaging to study intelligence in 1988 and still is an active researcher. He has given invited lectures sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the National Academy of Sciences, DARPA, the European Molecular Biology Organization, and Cold Spring Harbor. Dr. Haier’s neuroimaging/intelligence research was featured on Nova Science Now and at the World Science Festival. He has a series of video lectures, The Intelligent Brain, for the Great Courses and he was the Editor-in-Chief of Intelligence, a scientific journal. In 2025 he co-founded a new Open Access scientific journal, Intelligence and Cognitive Abilities. Currently he is President of the Human Intelligence Research & Education Foundation.
