Rosemarie Fitzsimmons

Rosemarie Fitzsimmons is a Rhode Island native who left home at 17 to join the Marine Corps in 1979 for “just a few years,” because, despite dreams of becoming a writer like Laura Ingalls Wilder, she had no means to pay for college. It turned into a 20-year career.

She left the Corps and worked for the government until 2014, when she stepped off the career stage to recapture the joy of writing from her youth. As The Portrait Writer, she now writes about God’s touch in the lives of every-day heroes.

Rosemarie ghost-wrote her first book, "Caged Sparrow" in 2015. It is a true story that highlights how God’s mercy and power can change lives even when we’ve given up.

Her second book is the newly-released "From the Remnants," also a true story, about standing after life's tragedies knock us down.

Rosemarie lives with her husband, Jerry, in northern Virginia. They are new empty-nesters with two grown sons: Young Jerry and Charles, and a slightly unstable Egyptian Mau named Aslan.
