Mrs. Ella Mae Rayner RN

Gordon and Ella Mae were high school sweethearts, and after they graduated, she became an RN and Gordon did a three-year stint in the Marine Corps before he joined the Border Patrol and later became a Federal Narcotics Agent.

His government assignments took him to many posts in the United States and Latin American countries. Because the family always traveled with him as a unit, the two years they spent in Paraguay were just more of the same.

Because PTSD was a result of his activities with DEA, Ella Mae encouraged him to write about his work with the hope it would help ease his depression. Since she had written for a local newspaper before their final move to Savannah, she enrolled in a writers group to seek help with this project. Thus the work on “Foreign Service Family Style” began.

Writing therapy was a success. "Foreign Service Family Style" was published in 2014 and the thriller novel, Taurus, Taurus, Taurus, followed in 2016. The second thriller, Operation Piňata, followed in 2017. The third thriller, Operation Sandstorm in 2020, and Operation Caliph in 2021.
