Greetings!
From Dr. N. Krishnamurthy (known locally and cyberspace as 'Prof Krishna') an 88-year old (mentally much younger!) semi-retired professor and presently free-lance consultant, now focusing on workplace safety and risk management, accident investigation and such exciting stuff!
Born in Bangalore, India, as a child and boy I spent 10 years in Burma (now Myanmar) just before the Second World War -- we dug air-raid trenches behind the house and blacked out all exterior lights.
Did my BSc and BE(Civil) and started teaching Civil Engineering in India. Gold medal in English, free lance journalist to English language newspapers and magazines.
Did my MS(CE) and PhD in USA (CU at Boulder), and after working out my bond in India, moved to USA.
Was Professor at Auburn U, Vanderbilt U. and then Professor and Chair at UAB. Worked summers and consulted for Oak Ridge National Lab.All in about 17 years. Published lots of papers.
Then 8 years in NUS, Singapore, returned to India.
Part-time teaching and ran a computer academy from 1988 to 1999.
Back to Singapore, kind of settled down, teaching, training, research, consultancy, publishing books and papers, mostly in workplace safety and risk management.
Patented an invention on risk management in Singapore and Australia, and another invention on scaffold/formwork in Singapore.
A third invention on a fall-safe walker for old folks and youth in rehab, in the works.
Published 5 technical books, 3 more coauthored, and started a series of books called Prof Krishna's ABC of Life, now finished the seventh.
Music and photography (apart from reading and writing!) are my loves.
Frequent contributor to Quora, considered a Life-Counselor.
Quite an exciting life!
