Jay J. Nelson has used QuarkXPress almost daily since 1988 when he managed one of America’s first prepress service bureaus. He became a Quark Authorized Trainer, then owned a Quark Authorized Training Center. For the next 21 years, Jay was the editor and publisher of Design Tools Monthly, a widely respected executive summary of graphic design news.
Jay was a keynote speaker at Quark’s launch of QuarkXPress 7 and 8, and is the author and presenter of the training video included with QuarkXPress 7. Jay has also reviewed every version of QuarkXPress for Macworld/PCWorld magazine since version 8.
Jay has publishing in his blood and is the third generation in his family dedicated to the process of producing books, newspapers and magazines. He is the author of “Jay Nelson’s Guide to Self Publishing” and is the publisher of The Skinny Book series of eBooks. He also contributes regularly to Macworld and Photoshop User magazines. Earlier in his career Jay owned a graphic design studio and training company, and managed a printing company. He knows a lot about digital publishing, fonts and font management.
