Chef Carla Ray, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, is a personal chef, cooking instructor, and dietician in Berkley, California.
She is primarily inspired by seasonality and nostalgia. “I try to think about not just what I like, but what our guests would respond to” she says. A short time after earning a Culinary Arts degree, she found herself in the Pacific Northwest working as a culinary supervisor at the Salish Lodge & Spa, Seattle’s Premier Luxury Resort.
In 2012, Ray landed at Providence in Los Angeles under award winning chefs Tom Flaherty and Reuben Moretti. It was here that she developed a razor sharp eye for detail, learning and working among the very best putting her knowledge of large scale banquet operations and fine dining prowess to work.
In addition to award-winning entrees, Ray presents a wide range of show stopping desserts including traditional yet timeless Parisian mini desserts at Café des Artistes, an ever-present offering that allows guests to select from Opera Cake, Paris-Brest, Macarons and other marvels presented in the restaurant’s rotating Dessert Degustation.
Aside from cooking, Chef Carla is an active member of her local community, an avid runner, and loves traveling the world.
