W. R. Cheney

W. R. Cheney is the descendant of a long line of watermen from the South Shore of Long Island. a life-long sailor, fisherman, and hunter, and a strong advocate of the principle that, where seafaring is concerned, simplicity is best. He deplores the tyranny of the internal combustion engine, and feels sorry for its many victims.

Writing for the"Bulletin" of the Catboat Assocoation. Ned Hitchcock called the book "a keeper" and "a sailor's book, written for sailors". Sandy Marsters in "Points East Magazine" said, "OK, I'm jealous, not only for Cheney's ease with words and images, but with the satisfaction he has found navigating a simple, engineless boat into a sea of serenity. May we all be so lucky". "Soundings" said, "Cheney is an experienced sailor who dispenses useful information on every page".
