Len Bourland

Len Persons was born in New Orleans but soon moved to Houston; Sao Paulo, Brazil; and Atlanta as a child of the corporate move. Educated at Vanderbilt in Nashville, she married and followed her husband to Jackson, Mississippi for his medical training. They arrived in Dallas to continue his career and raise their three children, which Len wove into anecdotal columns for a local newspaper. Soon she was winning awards from the Texas Press Association and broadcasting her humorous take on life over NPR affiliate KERA. In her forties her world shattered with divorce and depression. With resilience she built a real estate career, began dating alongside her adolescents and writing about it.She chooses snapshots over the years with honesty and wit.

Using excerpts from her columns over the years, she invites readers to sort through their laundry with hers as both her life and society cycle through wash, spin, repeat in this frank memoir, which concludes with gentle humor.

Although a grandmother of six, she continues to write and have fun in Dallas with her dog, Baci. Well known to many in the Southeast and Southwest for her writing, this is her first book.
