Writing had been a solace to me since I was old enough to scribble on walls with my mother's lipstick. As a freelance writer, editor and translator I've spent a lot of time over the years helping other people get their stuff out there. The only person who fiercely believed in my talent was my dear friend Donald who pushed and prodded and goaded me forward despite all of my best excuses. When he told me he had sent the first fifty pages to the agent who wanted the rest of the manuscript in a week, I nearly peed my pants.
So much has happened since then. I lost Don and both of my in-laws within 2 years. Greece became further engulfed in the economic crisis and we've been dealing with capital controls since June 30th 2015 (imagine being able to withdraw a maximum of $65 from you bank account in any 24 hour period...). Nonetheless I still managed to re-edit the manuscript, tweaking and tightening. I set up all the social media stuff (admittedly with help from my 16 year-old), and now my family and I are preparing to head to the Americas...
I've so many stories bursting my skull in various stages of development, and finally it looks like I might just find the time and space and (comparative) peace to begin excising them from the recesses of my mind onto the page. I sincerely hope you find this stuff of some interest.
