Saumya Chakrabarti teaches Economics at Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, West Bengal, India. He has also taught at St Xavier’s College, Kolkata; University of Calcutta; and at Presidency University. He has been a visiting fellow in International Studies at the Watson Institute, Brown University, USA. He has been honorary director at Agro-Economic Research Centre and associate dean at Faculty of Social Sciences, both at Visva-Bharati. Chakrabarti has undertaken research and higher degree supervision in development economics with a focus on the macroeconomics of agriculture–industry linkage, rural–urban informal sectors, and formal–informal relations. He has led and participated in national and international projects funded by UGC; SANEI; BIARI; ICSSR; etc. He has published in journals like Cambridge Journal of Economics, Review of Radical Political Economics, Economic and Labour Relations Review, International Critical Thought, Economic and Political Weekly, Indian Journal of Agricultural Economics, Indian Journal of Labour Economics, among others. He has written books published by Prentice Hall and Oxford University Press.
