I was born and raised in Kokomo, IN. I went to a small Liberal Arts College in Eureka, Illinois called none other than Eureka College. I had always dreamed of being a mom and having the white picket fence and the 2 kids, one dog and a multitude of other four legged critters running around the house. Oh and of course a husband. At the age of 23 I was first diagnosed with Major Depression and so my life got derailed a little bit. But in spite of having this diagnosis, I knew that my dreams could come true. I just did not always know how or when. At the age of 39 I first started dating my soon to be husband Jim and a year later we became Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan. But it was a little late to start having babies or at least I thought it was so we explored our options and decided based on Jim's success with raising his son Ian (who was adopted from his first marriage) that we should adopt kids. Well in the first year we "accidentally" ended up fostering children and found that we loved it. So here it is 10 years later and we have had over 30 kids enter our lives whether it was for a short stay or to become a long term part of our family. Most of our kids have been over the age of 9 and many with special needs. We currently have 3 daughters and one son officially with two other girls waiting to be adopted at a later point. We have 4 beautiful granddaughters with a fifth on her way this winter. No matter what challenges Jim and I face we come out ok and we show our kids and the world around us that we can come out on top no matter what. I hope you enjoy my books and hopefully there will be more to come!
