Jon Stuen-Parker, a high school dropout, twice attended Harvard’s Health Careers Summer Program, graduated from Hampshire College, completed all the courses required for graduation at the Yale School of Medicine, attended classes at the Yale School of Law and graduated from the Yale School of Public Health.
In 1983, Jon established the Boston AIDS Brigade and the Yale AIDS Brigade. In 1985, they became the National AIDS Brigade (NAB). The following year, NAB began establishing needle exchange programs across America.
NAB opened Veterans With AIDS (VWA) Drop-In Centers in Boston, New Haven, New York City and Key West.
NAB established the first needle exchange programs in United States, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, China and sub-Saharan Africa. In 2003, NAB began bringing nevirapine to sub-Saharan Africa to help reduce newborn-HIV transmission.
NAB has existed solely on individual donations. Hampshire College Professor Emeritus Lynn Miller and Bruce Springsteen are the biggest donors.
Jon met his wife (Rebecca) in Vietnam. In 2006, they departed South Boston with their four children for Brisbane, Australia.
