A.K. Stout

A.K. Stout is a native Michigander, whom now lives in a small town in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. Having three children of her own, raising a fourth, A.K. is known as ‘mom’ to four grown children and ‘grandma’ to eleven.

To A.K. writing is an escape, a release, and sometimes her venting mechanism. There isn’t a time she can recall when she didn’t enjoy writing. There have been times that the words were tumbling around so fast that she wrote on the first thing she could lay her hands on. Problematic? Indeed, a time or two.

From a very early age, A.K. began to receive recognition for her seemingly effortless writing abilities. In the third grade, she was announced the winner in a school-wide story writing contest. In high school, short stories were kept by the teachers to be used as examples for other classes, which were supposed to be returned at the end of the year. I have wondered a time or two what happened to them, as they were never returned.

In 1990, A.K. was nominated and won the Golden Nugget Award for her work with Exceptional Children. One of those poems, (Celebrate Our Children), has since been put to music, along with several of her other works.

Besides writing, A.K. enjoys reading, music, and genealogy. Digging into the family history has almost become an obsession of late. Remembering when children were sent out of the room to go play so the grown-ups could talk…oh, the things they talked about! Fodder for another book? It may be a possibility.
