Pete Trainor

Pete Trainor is an award-winning, best-selling author, technologist, and accidental polymath from London. He has spent nearly three decades working at the intersection of design, technology, and human behaviour.

He talks all over the world as an analyst on artificial intelligence, emergent technology trends, human behaviour, data, and the macro effects all of these have on audiences, industries, and creative craft. He was the founding chair of BIMA's AI Think Tank, and in 2017 was voted one of the five most influential people in the British digital industry by Econsultancy.

As a writer, Pete tends to take the long way round to his point. Human Focused Digital argued for putting people back at the centre of the systems we build. Calling All The Dreamers told the story of a Britpop band from Somerset, and when asked why a technology author would write a book about a band, his answer was: "It's a technology book. I just choose to make the people the heroes and not fetishise over 1s and 0s like most technologists."

The latest book, Drawn to Extinction: Comics, Craft, and the Battle for Creativity in the Age of AI, uses the world of comics as an allegory for a much bigger conversation about creativity, labour, and what we stand to lose if we let machines quietly replace the humans who have spent decades mastering their craft. It features a foreword by Pat Mills and contributions from John Wagner, Ram V, Torunn Grønbekk, Frazer Irving, Steve McNiven, Hannah Berry, Matt Kindt, and others.
