K.P. Redmond

K. P. Redmond has worked as a construction worker in the Florida sun, as an actor in dinner theaters, as a truck driver, and as a guitarist in smokey bars. When he finally grew up, he worked as an electrical engineer and software engineer in the aerospace industry: first on fighter planes, then unmanned spacecraft, and finally in human space flight. Throughout all of it, he has been an avid reader of science fiction and action novels. Now he is writing his own.

Redmond is the author of the Straker's Life books, a series of near-future science fiction novels. The first book, Dust and Deception (originally Love and Other Metals), follows Straker as he goes from being a despised water-miner on the Moon to the hero of an asteroid mining mission. In the second book, Human Enough, he journeys to Earth to rescue an unusual but important young woman. In Split, the third book, Straker leads the pioneers of Cislunar Space as they finally find a way to deal with the tyrants from Earth.

Redmond's fourth novel, Forbidden Machines, is set mostly in Chicago, USA, beginning in 1893. It's part steampunk, part science fiction. A smart but bumbling time traveler sets the world off on an alternate timeline. The machines of the world now run off of steam and clockwork mechanisms, and many of the inventions of the 20th century never come to be. The book's hero grows up in this alternate world. His efforts to set things right take him down a path of adventure and discovery, meeting a most unusual and attractive woman in the process.

K. P. Redmond lives near Denver, Colorado USA with his attractive, cat-lusting wife, where he endeavors to keep up with his over-achieving daughter and son while writing down the daydreams that float through his head. If you happen to read any of his books (bless you), please leave him a review! (You will be rewarded in the afterlife.)
