I live in Kitsap County in Western Washington State. I actually grew up in this area, served in the US Army for three years, and earned a degree from the U of Puget Sound in Tacoma.
I moved to Colorado and wrote computer-related manuals for a few years in the 1980s, then taught college for a few years in the early 2000s. I worked in either industry or education during my total employment history. I have an advanced degree in Educational Technology (2001), and an MFA in Creative Writing (2016). I published a book of poetry in 1995, but it was far from a success. I may try to re-publish it, in a Kindle version and see how many people still say it's not poetry! :-)
I'm retired, but spent several years in the Bakersfield, CA area and visited some of the locations I wrote about in "mule girl." When it came time to write a thesis, the focus changed from what I originally wanted to write about to what ended up being the "mule girl" story.
I sing, knit, swim, hike, and keep myself busy finding new things to interest me.
I have not yet had a reading, but one of the Kitsap County libraries has asked me to do that once I got my book published. I hope to have a paper copy by September 2016, and then then I'll see about doing a reading.
