Rocky Wilson

Raised in a rural logging community in Oregon that, to this day does not have one stop light, Rocky Wilson learned about his gift of writing at an early age.

Written as a facetious spoof, his first editorial in his hometown newspaper about a burned out, abandoned building resulted in an emergency session of the city council and an edict to have the building removed immediately. After high school, Rocky left his hometown to expand his horizons. He traveled to Kazakhstan, Germany, Baja Mexico, and France, yet his true fascination rests in islands of the world. In the Mediterranean, Rocky spent considerable time on Malta, where he wrote the first draft of his second novel, An Isle of Fancy.

Rocky also visited the island of Gozo where he encountered a life-changing experience when, against stern advice, he entered Calypso’s Cave alone. He also visited the Tahitian islands and best remembers, while at Bora Bora, swimming with sharks and having stingrays brush his legs. Too, for seven years Rocky lived on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. A journalist for more than two decades, Rocky’s highest award came in a national contest for an article about low-income housing.

Award winning author Rocky Wilson’s recent autobiography, ‘Rocky Wilson: Why Am I Here’ truly is stranger than fiction. While traversing an unusual life with 18 near-death experiences, success in the political realm, and multiple stays in a mental institution, Wilson’s atypical journey finally reaches fruition when he first experiences true love and discovers why he’s here.
