Kevin Nourse

Dr. Kevin Nourse is an executive coach, leadership researcher, speaker, and adjunct professor with a passion for helping leaders and managers resiliently navigate change and adversity. In addition, he focuses his professional practice on the development of women leaders, particularly in healthcare professions. Kevin earned a PhD in 2009 based on his research about resilient leadership during Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. He is a certified professional coach and faculty member at Georgetown University. In 2001 he founded Nourse Leadership Strategies (www.nourseleadership.com), a Washington, DC, and Los Angeles-based professional services firm offering executive coaching, team coaching, and development, and leadership development programs.

Kevin identified his commitment to helping people develop resiliency when his mother developed lung cancer in 1995. After her death, he immersed himself in the hospice movement as a volunteer with patients facing terminal diseases. Despite their imminent death, many of these patients shared hope-filled stories about their lives and legacies. This experience introduced Kevin to the concept of resiliency and the power of intentionally choosing one's attitude toward adversity.

Kevin has significant experience working with individuals facing career adversity, as well as his own experience navigating career derailment. In his role as a human resource director at PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting, he launched a career management center to help staff enhance their career resilience. When faced with an organizational downsizing at PwC, Kevin volunteered to give up his job, start his own firm, and practice what he preached about reframing adversity to workshop participants.
