Bruce Aiken

I grew up and studied for an arts degree in London before moving to a small village in the wilds of the Exmoor National Park. I built a freelance career as a designer, writer and illustrator, gaining a variety of commercial clients (including several publishers).

Later in life I was diagnosed with autism (which didn’t surprise my children). On reflection I realised that my stories are loosely based on life experiences and fascinations - but only loosely.

My novels all feature strong storytelling, believable characters and plot twists. The first five novels are hard to tie to a genre but could be described as 'women's commercial fiction'. What you won't find in my novels are demons, dragons or fight scenes.

I don’t write to become a famous author, and rarely promote my novels. For me, the satisfaction is in writing. Even so, I have had one novel reach the final ten in a national competition and several short stories have been selected for publication in anthologies.
