Stephen Chase

Stephen M Chase received B.S. Math 1965, M.S. Math 1967, Ph.D. Computer Science 1970, all from the University of Illinois. He then worked at the IBM Research Center in NY for 5 years and has been mostly self-employed since, working on numerous software projects. He has been an active programmer for 52 years, on a wide variety of computers and languages. He is mentioned in D. Knuth's The Art of Computer Programming Vol 3, for having solved an open problem related to sorting. He currently lives in Amarillo, TX.
