Trina Chu

Trina Chu was born in Da Nang, Vietnam, but escaped from the country in 1982 with younger brother, becoming just another one of the thousands of ‘boat people’ who risked everything for freedom and a better life.

Settling in the United States, Trina was educated at Boston Latin School, the oldest grade school in the country, before being admitted to the Ivy League’s prestigious Brown University. She graduated with Honors in 1995, despite her low socioeconomic status, and has since gone on to get a law degree in 1999 and her Executive MBA degree in 2013.

Her varied work career has seen Trina employed by law firms in Boston and Springfield, Massachusetts; Buffalo, New York; and Shreveport, Louisiana, helping a wide range of people find justice.

A generous, community service-riented soul, Trina donates some of her time and money to good causes within her community, serving on the boards of many non-profit organizations, such as the YWCA, Shreveport Mayor’s Women’s Commission and The Shreveport Human Relations Commission.

At home, Trina has the love and support of her family in the form of husband Quyen Chu, daughter Thuytien and son Yen, not to mention the two family dogs, Chloe and PawPaw.

And when she isn’t working or writing, Trina likes nothing better than going to the movies and spending time with those closest to her and her many friends.
