Evan Henry is a writer, reader, and perpetual student living in central Virginia. Aside from a number of boring day jobs and a few published short stories, he has been a staff writer for Broken Frontier and The Cavalier Daily. As the Editor in Chief of Black Ship Books, he strives to nurture modern multimedia platforms for storytelling in all its forms, and through the publisher’s website seeks to place pop culture in conversation with the social sciences and the humanities.
Writing predominantly character-driven science fiction, Evan likes to examine conjunctions of the mundane and the transcendent, moments at which the everyday is transfigured into something uncanny or extraordinary. His non-fiction, available on the Black Ship website and Medium.com, is often about pop culture, religious narratives, or the power of words, sometimes all at the same time. His short story “With Gilded Wings” was nominated for the 2015 Pushcart Prize.
