Mr. Paul O. Beale

Paul O Beale has been a talented, prolific writer since 1970. This is no surprise as he has been, since infancy, an equally prolific and avid reader. There was a brief hiatus in the late 70s until 1983 when he serendipitously stumbled upon the world’s audience. It was a time of intense excitement and creativity which produced his first stage play; “Granny Rule”. The play was a huge success having been performed more than 200 times in his home country, Jamaica, and the UK. That was just the beginning. Today, Paul O Beale has written in excess of 40 stage plays. More than 90% of these plays, astoundingly, were commercially produced.

Many of these plays found traction and enjoyed great success in countries with large Jamaican and West Indian, migrant populations, who, for a few hours, indulged their nostalgia, by watching slices of Jamaican life carefully and skillfully written and performed to excite the afore-mentioned emotion.

From Jamaica to the UK, Canada, USA, GC, Guyana, the BVI among other territories, the plays cut a wide swath into a demographic that was literally “thirsty” for Beale’s brand of entertainment. It also allowed for temporary escapism from the life’s sometimes harsh realities.

Always a visionary, Paul almost imperceptibly saw the need to move into another market; Screenplays. He co-wrote the script for “Destiny” which smashed previously held box office records on the Palace Amusement circuit. His genius still needed free reign and he turned his sights on Television where he has written, directed and produced over 200 episodes of drama which included Me an Mi Kru, Let’s Make Peace, Joint Tenants, Bloodline, Domino Effect, Verandah Prekay, True Love and The EnTRAPreneur.

Continuing in the vein of being a Solopreneur, he still finds time to coach, train and to date, he has exposed over 300 students to screen acting while continuing to write books, screenplays and direct television shows.

Beale seems to be racing against time to publish the many books he has written and has plans to convert them to film in the near future as he broadens his fan base. The Breast Factor which he is currently filming, in addition to doing everything else, deals with the fear-inducing diagnosis of Cancer and the way it affects not just the stricken but those who love and care for them. It is not a dark story, rather, it deals with the triumph of the human spirit over adversity.

Paul O Beale can live in almost any country he wants but he chooses to live in Jamaica. One gets the feeling that, here, in his tropical island of Jamaica, his creativity flows like the deep blue waters of the Caribbean Sea, perennial, indefatigable.
