Hi and welcome to my Author Page. I'm an aging radio news vet who got hooked on the business growing up in Emporia, a small town in Southside Virginia near the North Carolina border. When the owner of the local radio station, WEVA, caught me running a pirate station in my basement, he gave me a shot at going legit. I was 14 years old. I worked at WEVA throughout my high school years, extended by one year because I was having too much fun on the radio and absolutely none in school. I managed to graduate and made my way to Washington, DC and American University where I won an internship with NBC News during the heyday of Huntley Brinkley. Upon graduation, I joined WRVA in Richmond, Virginia. Over the next 33 years, I was a reporter, news anchor, editor, News Director, Operations Manager and creator and voice of the fantasy character "Millard The Mallard" which was a mainstay on the top rated Alden Aaroe Morning Program for more than 25 years. I left the station in 2001. My wife and I moved to the family farm in southeastern North Carolina in 2001 where I went into freelance photography. "Radio Ingleside; A Life On Air" is my first book.
